Graeco-Iranica Series

The Graeco-Iranian Studies Series publishes high-quality scholarship on various aspects of Hellenic-Iranian Studies. The political and cultural interaction between the Hellenic and the Iranian civilizations has been one of the key-developments in the Eastern Mdeiterranean and Western Asia from ancient times to the present. Already in ancient times (Acheamenid-Classical period, Hellenistic-Parthian times and Late Antiquity-Sasanian period), Iranians and Greeks accomplished overwhelming achievements in the sphere of science, belles-lettres and every other aspect of human activity. After the end of antiquity and the emergence of Christianity and Islam, the Hellenic and Iranian civilizations continued their interaction and influence in the above regions in a new cultural framework. The Hellenic-Iranian cultural interaction became even stronger under this new scheme. In modern times, political and cultural relations between Greece and Iran continue being vivid. The objective of the series is to foster studies in the various disciplines of Hellenic-Iranian Studies: History, Literature, Linguistics, Philosophy, Religion, Art History, Archaeology, Anthropology and Folklore.
